Meeting notes for Hostpoint Meet

Hostpoint Meet is free, needs no account and runs on Swiss servers. That is exactly why you use it for meetings you would rather not hold on a US service. When it comes to meeting notes, the options run out: none of the widely used AI notetakers lists Hostpoint Meet.

    Book a call

A bot that joins Hostpoint Meet

My notetaker joins through the meeting link, then records and transcribes on a server you control. The summary is written afterwards in an automation layer on the same infrastructure. Which language model writes it is a configuration setting, not a migration.

    How it works

    1. 1

You start or schedule the meeting on Hostpoint Meet and copy the link.

    2. 2

The link goes to the bot, by hand or through your calendar.

    3. 3

The bot joins and announces what is being recorded, where it is stored and for how long. If anyone objects, it stops.

    4. 4

After the meeting the summary is where you need it.

Password and lobby decide who gets in

Hostpoint Meet can protect a meeting with a password and switch on a lobby where participants wait until someone lets them in. Both are optional and are set from inside the meeting, under the security options. The bot is treated like any other guest: with a password, it needs the password; with a lobby, someone has to admit it.

The moderator role goes to whoever enters the meeting first, not necessarily to whoever sent the invitation. For meetings that are minuted, someone from your team should therefore be in the room first.

As a rule, a meeting link does not expire and can be reused. For regular meetings, one fixed link in the recurring calendar entry is enough.

No account, no time limit, no end-to-end encryption

Hostpoint Meet encrypts the connection between participants and the server, and the servers are in Switzerland. There is currently no end-to-end encryption. In practice that means two things: no encryption setting can lock the bot out – and the platform operator technically sits in the data path. For most business meetings that is acceptable, for the most sensitive ones it is not. Weigh that up before you settle on a platform for a type of meeting.

    What you need

A server in Europe or in Switzerland with a provider that has no US parent company, your own or one at your existing host. No subscription, no licence, no tie to me.

Recording is only allowed with everyone's knowledge

Before you start, say what the recording is for, where it is stored and how long it stays. A voice counts as particularly sensitive personal data, and in Switzerland secretly recording a non-public conversation is a criminal matter on top of that. I describe the framework; your legal advisers have to assess it. The bot makes the announcement when it joins.
